Bought this to replace an old metal slow cooker; the crock of course makes all the difference. This unit is well designed, maintains a constant temp, and is easy to clean. Size is good for a family, we've made roasts, soups, dressing, etc. for groups from 4-10 so far .My only concern is the long-term performance of the plastic parts of the lid locking mechanism; they are fine now and may last forever, who knows.
I've never had a slow cooker with a digital display or timer. I'm not sure why you'd want one...in the words of my grandmother, "it's just one more thing to break." The way we use it it's always turned on in the morning before work (on low) and cooks all day. A timer or digital display would make no difference. There are slow cookers for $100+ out there but this Crock-Pot meets my needs quite well.

This Crock-Pot is very easy to travel with. The locks on both ends seal very tightly. Cooks well and cleans up even better! Looks beautiful all the rest of the time. Shipping time was unbelieveably fast. I would purchase again, great product.

I love the oval size because I can fit larger cuts of meat in the crock pot. It also has a small hole (which I presume is a vent hole) in the lid that I can slide my meat thermometer in to check for doneness without lifting the lid!

I bought this crock pot to replace one that was dropped. I totally DISAGREE with the reviewers that said the rubber ring has a "horrible" or "awful" smell. That is not true about the crock pot I received. I have never noticed any unpleasant odor on this crock pot. In the instruction booklet it says NOT to clamp down the top WHILE YOU ARE COOKING. I didn't notice any chemical or bad odor when I opened the box either.
This is a very nice, large crock pot. I usually make chili with about 4# of meat and also stews, etc. in it! I absolutely love the red metallic color!! Also the inner crock pot is separate from the outer metal shell which makes it a breeze to clean. The price is very reasonable. I recommend this product highly. It's a nice quality pot and beautiful in appearance.

no rubberry smell/flavor, food tastes great... this whole lid sealing complaint is dumb, the stoneware rim is to big to the lid BY DESIGN! it slides around a little but it doesn't matter because it is designed to slip a litte. no matter how far left, right, fron, or back the lid is there a crack where steam escapes! reading this complaint remind me how dumb people can be.
the outside of this does get very hot when cooking, i don't mind, i don't habitually lick it while it's on.
no timer but i've read so many complaints of timer malfunctions that i went with one with LESS moving parts on purpose. i am happy with the choice.

Ordered this because of the lid-locking feature (for transport only... do NOT cook with the lid locked). After reading countless, endless, customer reviews about the issues with the programmable slow cookers, decided to just get the "plain vanilla" slow cooker. Made billiard ball size authentic Swedish meatballs that I browned in a skillet & finished cooking 3/4 of the way in the oven in advance of Christmas dinner then refrigerated them. Used this excellent slow cooker to put the sauce and meat together and have everything ready for the family guests without feeling frazzled. The Crock pot heated up perfectly and cooked the meat and sauce to perfection. When turned down to "keep warm", it maintained a safe temperature. If you're a smart cook, you will not choose the programmable slow cooker either due to too many reports of the device shutting itself off before the food is cooked and also overheating to the point of boiling.
UPDATE: 10 JANUARY 2015: Am very happy with the quality and function of this excellent SLOW COOKER. To those who complained that it gets too hot, even to the point of boiling, you probably had the lid completely latched. That action would definitely cause that issue. Try reading the instructions because they specifically instruct the customer that the lid should not be latched except for TRANSPORT. I just made the best homemade vegetable soup in my life today with this product and it came out perfectly cooked and delicious. Used some of the leftover skinless turkey breast along with a variety of vegetables. I'm a person who cannot stand eating spinach nor chard but was reading about the health benefits of adding KALE to the diet so I carefully removed all the stems and just put two cups of the hand-torn kale leaves in toward the last 45 minutes of cooking, along with the zucchini slices (both are soft-cooking types). The bottom line of using this excellent slow cooker is: when things appear to "fail", read the instructions. ;)

The weather is getting cooler and it's the perfect time for a crock pot. I really use mine all year but there is just something about the fall and winter. I was so trilled to be able to test out this new crock pot because the one I had was from my wedding 17 years ago! My other crock post was buy the same company and had 3 settings-off, low and high. but you could not read that anymore regardless it was still going strong after 17 years. But it is also nice to get an upgrade. What I love-the top locks! oh my gosh where has this been all my life? It feeds a family of 5, there is plenty of room to fill it full and was also leftovers for the next day. The price is also great-it would make a great gift for christmas, weddings or house warming. There is just nothing like the smell of a meal cooking in a crock pot.

About 2 weeks ago, I was taking my 13 year old crock pot full of chili to church. On the way into the building, my arm bumped the door and the pot and the chili went flying. Pot and chili were ruined; glass was everywhere! I can't live without a crock pot so I began the search. I looked at many crock pots before deciding on this one. I saw the reviews where others mentioned a bad smell when using it the first few times, but I really wanted this one, so I got it anyway.
I have to say... I love it. I made my first pot of chili in it today.
1. I did notice a very small hardly detectable smell a couple of short times during the cooking, but it was not bad at all. I feel sure it will not happen again.
2. I love the locking lid. No more spills in the trunk of the car.
3. I mentioned that I shopped around before deciding on this one. I looked at several that were programmable and had timers etc. But the reviews on those were soooo mixed that I decided to go with tried and true. Anyway, my life is already complicated enough, I don't need a new appliance to learn. Simplify, Simplify, Simplify!
4. The carry handles on the side of the pot are great! If my previous pot had had handles like these, I would not have dropped it in the first place.
5. The price is really good, hopefully I will have this one for another 13+ years!

I sent this as a gift to my friend and she started using it immediately for the apple cider she was going to serve at her party. Loved the color and loved the crockpot. Makes a nice gift that she will use over and over.

This crock-pot is amazing. We bought it because it was on sale and we were in need of a new crock-pot. I am not sure if it is because of our location but it seems to cook a little hot. Things that say to cook on low for 8 hours tend to be done in this crock-pot in 6. The locking bars for the lid make taking your cooked meal on the road, or across the room, easy and spill proof. It comes with some recipes in the manual and we were offered a free copy of Cooks magazine which was a bonus. Because this is an original Crock-Pot the vessle is made of ceramic. It is easy to clean, thick, and it cooks evenly. The power cable is long enough so that you don't have to rearrange your counter to make space for it. Definitely a good buy and a great product.
