First let me start out by saying I was going to give this filter a 4 star rating until I received a email from the manufacturer asking me to rate the filter and if I was not satisfied with it and was not going to rate it 5 stars please contact them and let them know of the problem I had, well I did just that.
I told them it took about 15 gallons to flush the new filter that it seemed to have what I called cooked "Asian glass noodles" in it at first, ugh. After the long flushing they were gone. To me this wasn't typical, maybe some dark discoloration from carbon was all I was use too.
I received a email back and this is what I was told:
"Thank you for the order and I appreciate your feedback on the filter. Let me address the issue you experienced with the filter, as I have seen this before. Often times if a filter has not been changed for a long period of time, or if the tap water just happens to have a lot of contaminants, these white little strands will appear at first. The pieces are usually actually there and in the line when you take your previous filter off, and many shake loose with the change of filters, and these should not be happening from the new filter. Next time you change your filter you can see if you notice this by unscrewing and then re screwing the filter in place and pour some water."
Well I hate to admit it but I didn't realize that it had been over a year since I had changed the filter, my bad, so this now makes sense to me and was happy with the explanation that I was given!
I now happily give the Refresh Filter a 5 star rating as it works perfect and fit my GE refrigerator like a glove! No leaks, no problems, so why spend almost twice as much for a filter when you can get a quality filter like the Refresh for less.

Why spend $50 on the GE brand when you can get this generic brand for much less? I once bought a $50+ name brand replacement filter for my ex-girlfriend in an attempt to win her continued affection by proving what a helpful man I was to have around, but she hardly even flinched. At first I assumed it was because she wasn't aware of the great cost of the gift I had bestowed upon her, but now I realize it may have been simply because she was well aware of the inexpensive alternatives and assumed that a man of my intelligence must have purchased one of those. She was wrong, but at least I saved face. I've noticed absolutely no difference in quality after using this for months. Sure, I might be slowly being poisoned by some type of difficult-to-detect carcinogen either originating from or being allowed through by this filter, but I have no evidence of this. I'll update my review if I ever discover that that's happening.

Not my first try to find a replacement for the expensive GE filter but this one I will keep using. Unlike some other filters I tried this one maintains good taste and flow like the expensive OEM GE Filters... I love it and am going to save a lot of money!

Needed a new water filter for our build-in GE fridge Since the GE replacement filters are too expensive I searched the internet for an aftermarket one. The best reviews were for the Fast Flow Water Filter by Refresh and Amazon had the best price. I ordered 2, to be on the safe side and received them fast. Installing was a 'breeze' and before we did not run that much water as advised to get all the air out. Taste is great and still is. Thanks.

I have found this to be exactly compatible with my GE MWF filter which costs
about 5 times more !
I have no difference in water flow, or water quality.

I never understand why people insist on getting the brand name item. This works. a little tip I could have used when I did the installation: turn off the water under your kitchen sink before you replace the filter. It was like being in an I Love Lucy episode, the water was spraying everywhere. When the fridge was new it presumably came with a new filter, already this knock off filter which was a fraction of the cost has lasted much longer.

Was easy to fit on the fridge. Water tasted great and the stream seems to come out faster. This is a fraction of the cost of the genuine GE Filters. I will be buying these again when it comes time to replace.

installed easy. sealed properly. ran a few gallons through it all just like it's much more expensive cousin - which I will never buy again. another appropriately priced replacement item that's priced where the name brand item should be.

I had to give this a try just because it was so significantly lower in price than the GE Brand. Well im giving it 2 thumbs up. I cant tell you from a chemically analytically stanpoint of what minerals were actually removed but I can say that the water tastes just as clean as the name brand. Im sold from here on

Great price, great tasting water. I was one of those that refused to pay for a GE filter. After reading the other reviews I figured this one was worth the purchase. After install and flushing the filter I can happily say our water tastes as good, if not better than having the factory GE filter in place. At this cost I will gladly purchase these every time.
