We almost did not buy this product because the description lists one model of Frigidaire plus two other similar model numbers which will allegedly fit. We called Frigidaire, although our refrigerator is neither of the ones described, and were assured that the filter shown would fit almost any Frigidaire refrigerator. We ordered from Amazon and it did indeed fit although our unit was not of the type or model number listed!

We noticed that our water and ice was starting to have a sulfur smell, and sure enough the Change Filter light lit up on our Frigidaire Gallery 26 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side refrigerator. Ordered these replacement filters and they arrived quickly, brand new and in manufacturers original packaging.

For those that can't find their manual anymore, these are not that hard to change:

First, though it looks like you should be able to just pull your old filter straight of its holder inside the 'fridge... don't! What you have to do is push IN on your old filter to unlock it's spring-lock mechanism, and then it will pop partially out. Once that happens than you can easily remove the filter from its dock. If you have to strain pulling it out, something is wrong and you could damage the unit.

Next, take the protective plastic covers off the new filter's nipples and insert the filter into the dock by matching the flange on the filter to the groove in the dock... push the filter into the dock until it resets the spring-lock (you should hear the click). Let go and it should settle into locked position.

Lastly, get a pitcher and run water for about 5 minutes (three of our big pitchers full) to get all the loose particles out of the filter and your refrigerator water system.

UPDATE: December 25, 2014: Purchased more of these and they work perfectly. No issues at all, and will be back when the ones we have now expire. We have been getting about 6 months use from each.

That's it!

Once again our water and ice have no smell at all and the ice is crystal clear. We have had this refrigerator for about 18 months now and have gone through three filters (about one every 6 months), never having a leak or other malfunction.

Highly recommended.

Works as good as if not better than the original filter that came with my refrigerator. Water flow is better than the one it replaced, and I'm not sure if thats the case with every new filter in the beginning. Will have to see if the water flow is sustained through the remaining 6 months of use. Another very good shopping experience overall on Amazon. I received exceptional service from the marketplace seller and was top notch as the name suggests..

We needed a new water filter for our refrigerator. I wanted a frigidaire water filter and needed the model ULTRAWF. This was the cheapest listing on Amazon. Do not waste your money on purchasing the exact same product from a more expensive seller.

It was time to replace our new Frigidaire Water Filter and like always we shop Amazon! Took the old one out and popped in the new! Good for another 6 months which you gave us an extra one and both were wrapped! Great product! Thanks again! Dan

don't forget to remove the ice the first time you change the filter. THE ICE DOSE NOT TASTE VERY GOOD. Yeah I forgot, hope you don't forget. The price is just right and works just like the brand name. Thanks.

I searched for a replacement water filter for my Frigidaire refrigerator, and there were several aftermarket filters that came up on Amazon for about half of the cost of this filter. Buyer Beware, those other filters are basically just a gross particulate charcoal filter, which is the equivalent of a Britta filter. The charcoal simply removes the chlorine taste from tap water, so the user is fooled into thinking that the filter is doing a great job of filtering contaminants. The Frigidaire Ultra filter is designed to take out so much more, read product details for specifics.

I am giving this five stars especially because the discounted price of the filter. On the Frigidaire website, this filter costs $45.95, although if you subscribe to have a new filter sent every 6 months, you can save an additional 15%.

Purchased this filter in March of 2016. This filter is longer than the original filter that came in my new fridge and it does not have a tab that runs along the side of the original filter. However, it fits and works perfectly. When I first put the filter in it would not fit, but then I noticed that there are two plastic covers over the two small columns that sit on the top of the filter. These covers are for protection only and should be removed before trying to insert the filter. Once I removed these covers the filter fit perfectly and worked great. The water is clear, AFTER I RAN IT FOR THE SPECIFIED TIME, and it tastes great.

This is my replacement filter I have had to purchase for our refrigerator. I was nervous when purchasing this as there were some negative reviews, but I figured it was worth a shot. We have city water and it tastes like chlorine terribly, I'm used to well water, so the chlorine taste is magnified for me as I'm not used to it. The filter that came with our refrigerator did an amazing job of filtering the water and making it drinkable with zero hint of the chlorine taste. Upon receiving this unit the first thing I noticed is that it is bigger than the unit that came in the refrigerator from the factory. I nervously popped out the old filter and put this one in place, it fit without issue...so my first fear was put to rest. I followed the instructions and ran some water through the filter and discarded as instructed. The filter has been in use since about June 20th of this year, so going on 2 months and I have zero complaints. This filter is just as good as the one that came in my refrigerator. No foul tastes, no issues. Clearly people are getting different filters depending on when they order, as others have had terrible luck with theirs, but mine is great.

This filter came exactly as described. I had to consult the refrigerator manual to know how to insert it properly as this was our first time needing to replace the filter. It would be nice if the directions to replace were included in the filter box. Other than that it was extremely easy to remove and replace this filter. For those reviews regarding a horrible smell, you have to run the water for a good 3-4 minutes to refresh the water line. Don't use any of the water until you do that.
