Features and Benefits
One Touch On/Off Button: Allows you to activate the hand blender at the touch of a button. Simply press and hold down the Low or High button to blend or pulse. Once the button is released, blending will stop.
Comfort Handle: The handle allows you to control the hand blender with ease.
Motor Body Housing: A powerful 200-watt motor operates with an easy one-touch control.
Detachable Shaft: By pressing the release button on the back of the unit, the shaft will detach for easy cleaning.
Blending Attachment with Stainless Steel Blade and Blade Guard: This attachment easily snaps into the motor body housing. The stainless blade is partially covered by a stainless housing that keeps splashing to a minimum.
Mixing Beaker: 2-Cup mixing beaker is microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe. Use this container to blend drinks, shakes, salad dressings and more. Designed for easy gripping and drip-free pouring.
Operating the Hand Blender
The specially designed blade is for mixing and stirring all kinds of foods, including salad dressings, powdered drink products, and sauces. It is ideal for combining dry ingredients, and can be used to emulsify mayonnaise, too.
This blade mixes and stirs while adding only a minimum of air to your mixture. A gentle up-and-down motion is all you need to make the most flavorful, full-bodied liquid recipes.
Cleaning
Always clean the Smart Stick motor body and blending shaft thoroughly after using.
Remove the blending shaft from the motor body. Clean the motor body only with a sponge or damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners which could scratch the surface. To clean the blending shaft, wash by hand in hot water using mild detergent, or in the dishwasher.

Mixing - The two speed operation is handy. For making soups, you can do most of the job on low speed, even with chunky vegetables. This makes it easier to control how thick the final product is, and it makes for less possibility of splash-ups. The switch feel is sure (good tactile feel). The blade is stocky and sharp - it looks like it's built for business. I blended a large pot of tomato black bean garlic soup down in under 30 seconds.

Motor - Plenty of power. It's quiet compared to my last blender (especially on low), which was 3x the price. I cannot comment on durability yet, as this is a new model.

Size/weight/feel - Hefty, but not heavy. It has a quality feel with a nice balance. If it were too light, it would feel cheap.

Cord - Long enough to get the job done, but not too long to make wrapping up the cord a hassle.

Assembly/Cleaning - Easy to attach/detach. The lock-up feels solid. So far, there's little mechanical play in the interface. It's very easy to clean by hand if you don't wait for it to dry up.

I've grown to like Cuisinart products. It looks like they have a winner here.

4/10/2013 update - I've had this for several months now, and I can say the concern about the plastic gear on the prior version does not appear to be an issue on this design. I've used it dozens of times and there is not a hint of wear. Bumping to 5 stars. It's one of my favorite kitchen tools.

11/17/2013 update - Still going strong. This is my single favorite kitchen tool, and I have lots of them. It's the best combination of usefulness and fun factor. So nice not to have to drag out the food processor for so many tasks any more. I just made a super creamy hummus (in the can, no less) in under five minutes. Fast, yummy, inexpensive and so easy to clean up afterwards.

2/4/16 update - This is my *favorite* kitchen gadget ever. My latest 'discovery' is you can make a fool proof mayo with this puppy. I will use this till it dies (some day), then I will buy another one just like it.

3/3/2016 update - well that's the end. After three years of regular use, it's time to get a new one. Very high gear noise, and I'd give it another month tops before it destroys itself. If this is the current model, I will gladly get a replacement.

I purchased this thinking I'd use it to make smoothies in the summertime, when it became too hot to cook breakfast and a cool, creamy fruit concoction would satisfy. But I needed to take it for a test-drive in March, on the off-chance I'd need to return it for some reason. While I also purchased a 30-oz stainless steel milkshake cup like they use in diners, the Smart Stick comes with its own 16-oz plastic mixing cup. I started with about a cup of 2% milk, added a sliced overripe banana, a few big spoonfuls of vanilla yogurt, a T. of honey, 2 healthy dashes of cinnamon, a dribble of vanilla extract and a handful of ice cubes. I was hooked. The next morning, I added fresh (overripe) strawberries to my recipe. On my next grocery run, I bought several bags of frozen fruit -- raspberries, mangoes, strawberries -- and some frozen yogurt. Now I could eliminate the ice cubes, which dilute the beverage if it sits awhile. The Smart Stick was not intimidated by any of the ingredients. Having both a low and high speed, I just connect the top and bottom with a quick click, submerge the blender into the ingredients and begin with the low setting, to get things moving, then switch to high speed to blend everything into a beautifully smooth smoothie. I've now had it for about 2 weeks, and have made around 9 or 10 morning smoothies. Today, I had a chocolate milk/raspberry/cinnamon smoothie. When the weather warrants, I'm going to try frozen gimlets and margaritas! I can't think of any features I don't like. What I do like is the power of the blender, the ease of cleaning -- just press a small button on the back to disconnect the blade for washing, the blender will only operate while pressing either the low or high button so you never have to turn it "off," it's ergonomically comfy in my hand, and at the price it's a steal. Plus, I can use up fruit that I'd normally toss. I'm also going to try a cream of asparagus soup soon -- it'll be nice to keep the big Oster blender in the cabinet and not have to blend the soup in batches! Hmmm....cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, cream of broccoli...Oh! No more lumpy gravy! And resourceful moms can made homemade baby food. As they say, the possibilities are endless. I highly recommend this hand blender.

I have to invent reasons to use this thing, I love it so much. It's sleek, slim and easy to hold. There are two speeds- low and high and you have to hold the buttons while you are using it. They do not click on and stay on, but they depress quite easily and don't require any super human strength to hold down while you're churning around in your food. It has a quick release button that effortlessly detaches the bottom wand part for cleaning, but holds in on firmly and sturdy while you're using it. I use this for thinning out soups, pureeing chunky salsa for my girls that don't like the vegetable pieces, tomato sauce for spaghetti and pizza sauce made out of fresh whole tomatoes, smoothies, salad dressings...anything that I don't want to haul the blender out for. (Which is everything!)

I'd bought an Oster from Target, at the same time to compare the two, and this is the one that I kept. I attached a picture of the underside so you can see how the blade attaches by a metal rod.

ok i'll be honest i got this thing to mix my powdered gatorade in large quantities, and it does that with a quickness!
then i started using it to make tomato soup from my homegrown tomatoes. then came the super creamy ice cream floats, the homemade whipped cream. before i knew it i was martha flippin stewart over here...

the low setting is all you really need but you'll use the high setting anyway :>
careful of those blades, they're sharp!
it's very well constructed.
extremely powerful.
cleans up fast just keep a glass of warm water to set it in after you're done mixin' and you'll never have a cleaning issue.
stands up on the end like in the picture fine, mines hasn't fallen over yet. (i set it in that glass of warm water).

As about the millionth person to post a reaction here, I'll keep it short and sweet: This is the next generation in emersion hand blenders, and it's way better than the single piece plastic units it replaces. The removable end makes it more cleanable and the metal end keeps it from 1) staining, and 2) off-gasing plastic poisons into the food.

Note that this is a two-speed blender, which is an added bonus. Also it's corded. I've tried a cordless emersion blender, but they just don't have as much power.

I try not to buy too many gizmos for my kitchen, but this one is simply essential for sauces -- so I use it all the time.

This product was NOT given to me as part of any promotion. I bought it after doing some comparison shopping and this review is entirely the result of my own opinions and use of the product.

This is the most useful tool in the kitchen. Works perfectly, cleaning is simple with the detachable blade unit. I have used it to blend soups and make mayonnaise. I couldn't be happier. Love this gadget!

I've been using mine for months now, and I haven't had any problems whatsoever with it. I use it to make handmade soap, and have made numerous batches with it. No complaints whatsoever. It came nicely packaged, promptly sent, It is not hard to clean, and it isn't even all that loud in my opinion. All around, a good purchase at much less than I would have spent in the specialty store for the same product.

One of the best purchases I've made in quite a while. I use this so much now that I wonder how I got by before it? Oh yeah...I'd lug out the blender or magic bullet and make a big ol mess. This is super convenient, the bottom detaches with one button for easy cleaning. I use it daily for smoothies, blended coffee, protein shakes and scrambled eggs.

One tip...it blends very fast and whatever you're blending will come up the sides like a whirlpool so make sure you leave space at the top of your container for that. I usually use a large measuring cup to blend in and then when it comes time to clean I just put some warm water and dish soap in the cup and blend that up with the unit itself...a quick wipe with a sponge and both the cup and blender stick are clean.

When my first baby was ready to start eating solids I researched a lot of baby food making systems, such as the Baby Bullet, Baby Brezza, and the Beaba Babycook. They all sounded great, but they were expensive. They also got mixed reviews so I wasn't sure which one I should commit to. Then I heard about using an immersion blender to make baby food. Simply chop your veggies or fruits, boil or steam them, blend them using an immersion blender, and then fill an ice tray with your purée, and freeze. Voila homemade baby food.

I read the glowing reviews about the Cuisinart Smart Stick on Amazon and YouTube and decided to give it a try. I have to say, it didn't disappoint. I've used it to purée just about every fruit and vegetable, and the texture has always been smooth and creamy.

I've always liked Cuisinart products and this model in particular is very well built. It feels nice and sturdy. Not heavy or too light. It has two speeds, which is convenient. It's fairly loud, but not much louder than any other blender. It also comes with a very sturdy plastic cup that can be used to blend your food. I've had this product for two years now and I still use it for lots of food dishes. I'll also be using it for my second baby who'll be starting solids soon. Overall this was a great buy and worth every penny.

I love this blender. It is lightweight, but powerful. Its design protects scratches and spills. It blends all the way through. Great for soups, smoothies, crepes... Blending part comes off and easily cleans.
