I'ved tried a couple French Presses, including the $20.00 Bodum French Press & the SterlingPro coffee press, and this is my favorite one so far. Since all of the french presses essentially work the same, there's not much variation in the quality of the coffee (they all taste delicious!). Though this model is a bit more expensive, you're paying for a much better design.
For those who don't know how french presses work (I didn't know when I first got one), I'll offer a short explanation. You take some coarse ground coffee (which you can get from stores or a manual grinder), put it in the french press, and then pour in hot water. This leads to a richer taste than traditional drip brewers, since all the grounds are completely immersed in hot water, and all the oils of the coffee ground aren't filtered out. After letting it sit for some time (usually no more than 4 minutes), you press down the grounds slowly, and you'll have some delicious, rich coffee waiting for you. Another advantage of a french press is the flexibility-you can adjust the temperature of the water as well as the concentration of the coffee (by adjusting the amount of coffee grounds), so you can brew the coffee the way you want.
As for this particular press, it's my favorite because of it's excellent design. The glass carafe is well protected with a plastic grip-this makes it a lot stronger and makes the press a bit more durable. My last french press cracked, and I'm still not sure how that happened. It also has an elegant look to it. This press is also designed so that no plastic touches the hot water when you're brewing the coffee, so that's always a plus. It also comes with a spoon for measuring out coffee grounds.
Functionally, it works perfectly. I didn't get any grounds in my coffee, and the coffee itself tasted delicious. Just make sure you don't press down too fast, or the water might come out and burn your hands.
All in all, I love this french press! It's my favorite out of the 3 that I have tried, and though you're paying a bit more than some of the other presses, I think the increased durability is totally worth it.

UPDATE 12/26: Just wanted to update this review a bit. I've used this for ~3 months now and it still works great. It's durable, and as long as you wash it, the filter still works fine. Those who are looking for replacement filters can find them here: Coffee French Press Replacement Screen Parts (2Pack) Best Universal 8-Cup Stainless Steel Reusable Filter Accessories. They're made by the same company and I can attest that they work just fine with this coffee press.
-Please note that I was given a review unit.

are very convenient, but there are hundreds of fine teas that are only available as loose tea. A French press is ideal for brewing these loose teas, and it's easier to use than trying to stuff tea leaves into an infuser.
The Kona French press is very easy to use, and the fine mesh filter trapped virtually all the tea leaves at the bottom when I poured off the hot tea. Washing the filter was a simple matter of rinsing it under warm running water.
The press is attractive and looks durable enough to last for a long time. I'm looking forward to some very nice cups of tea.

This Kona French Press #1 premium coffee Maker and Tea Press, really does a great job ,and makes great tasting ,flavorful coffee or tea. I love the 34 ounce thick thermal shock resistant glass. Especially for me as I am a little rough in an indoor kitchen, as I am used to cooking over a smoker,BBQ grill, or single burner crab or turkey cooker. I love the sound the tea kettle makes ,when the water is ready, and the smell, makes me hungry for breakfast. 3 piece stainless filter system, is detachable, for cleaning. The whole unit, is top rack dishwasher safe. The tough plastic handle and heat resistant wrap ,helps protect if you drop. I give this Kona French Press a very high recommendation,a stylish design, for making quality, flavorful coffee shock and heat resistance, and it is easy to travel with. I hope this review is entertaining and helpful, to readers.

The Kona French Press is a very nice product. Looks great and works wonderfully. I'm a long-time French press user and have been using them since college for teas and coffee. The main advantage of a French press over a drip percolator is that the coffee grounds are fully immersed in water and can move around freely, allowing your beverage to develop a fuller flavor.
My video shows you some of the main features and a tip on how to remove the mesh for cleaning. Grip the rod near the top and give it a few turns. Then go down to the base of the plunger and grip the bolt portion of the rod. This works with other French presses I've owned as well. For best results, you should always rinse out the mesh after use so the grounds don't collect and mold.

Coffee from automatic coffee makers are fine, but most do not allow you to customize the strength of your coffee.
The French Press allows you to let the coffee steep for as long as you want, so that you can choose a weak or strong cup of coffee, depending on your mood. I also like French Press coffee because the steeping process seems to allow more coffee oils to infuse out of the ground beans and into your cup, which to me tastes a little richer than coffee made from, for example, the pod coffee makers.
I am really enjoying my Kona French Press. The design is elegant, the carafe is made from borosilicate glass, the plunger is made of metal, and all the pieces fit and work together nicely.
This french press is very easy to clean. Usually I just rinse its carafe and plunger really well in the sink, but you can also disassemble the plunger to clean with soap and water for when there is too much coffee oil buildup.
Not a coffee drinker? No worries--you can also make a nice pot of tea with this coffee press just by substituting loose tea for the coffee.
In the video I show you the pieces of the Kona French Press and demonstrate how to make a pot of coffee with it.
This press is better than other French Presses I've used in the past--I'm very happy with the Kona French Press.

Outstanding. I've owned this for over a year and it's been great. BUT one day the little top broke and I was unable to use it. I took a chance and contacted the company who immediately shipped out a new top and apologized for any inconvenience! That's customer service.
The poduct itself is really top notch and absolutely easy to use and clean. I have several French Press devices and this is the one I travel with because of its durability and reliability. Its my go to and by far one that I can depend on. Althought the top piece broke I am really glad the company stood behind it and replaced it. The support along with its reliability made it a five star Product.

making good coffee isn't difficult or expensive if you have the right tools...

I now have five of these coffeemakers in various sizes, from a tiny one-cupper to this six cup (four mug) giant. I started with a Bodum, which is a good place to start, and so far have have never had a problem with any. I like this one for the big size and for the borosilicate pot that can withstand even my fumblefingered acrobatics. It arrived in the mail and I washed it out and gave it a try...but while pouring in the boiling water, I managed to drop the glass carafe, bouncing it off of the sink and onto the floor. It hit hard but didn't crack or break. I did only minor damage to myself, because I was somehow not where the water sprayed, which was also nice. Anyway, it's good to know that this carafe can withstand early morning coordination lapses.
The innards are put together well too, nice and sturdy. The fit is perfect, so you don't get too much in the way of coffee grounds floating into the brew when you depress the plunger. It is as easy to clean as any French Press, just rinses out. I put the plunger in the dishwasher, but generally just rinse the carafe itself to keep it looking new. It certainly is not difficult to keep clean. But the best part is that generous volume. The directions state 32 ounces, which is four filled to the brim mugs, more like four and a half or five. And an easy six to eight regular coffee cup sized cups. Enough for a dinner party without getting up to do it all over again, or for one of those Sunday mornings where you know you are going to do the crossword, keep refilling your cup and to heck with the chores.
This oversized pot is easy to hold, easy to pour. The plastic siding means you don't worry about burning your hand if touch the side. I have nothing but good things to say about this press, and urge anyone who really loves coffee to try one of these coffee makers. You will discover a new way to get a tremendous amount of flavor out of almost any grind (you just don't want anything too fine or powdery...it slips through the plunger), a brewer that looks good at the table, and a fun addition to your coffee making arsenal.
If you look at the reviews, everyone who tried the Kona French Press liked it. There is one single-star review, but I think the reviewer misses the point. He thinks it is excellent. Someone should tell him. Anyway, this is definitely something to consider and easily worth five stars.

I bought this because I wanted to be able to quickly make a small pot of coffee without the hassle of using my big drip coffee maker. I've since given away my drip coffee maker because why would I ever use that when I can use a french press? Coffee just tastes better when you make it this way.
It's the perfect size for making two large cups of coffee. It stores perfectly on my counter top and takes up a fraction of the space my big coffee maker took up. It's very easy to clean, pretty much just rinse with water and you're done.

This is my first french pressed coffee maker. Item arrived exactly as described and on time. The reason I purchased this was because 1) it was a good quality item for a very good price. and 2) my percolator was making my coffee taste like plastic, so I'd thought I'd try a french press.
I do not use freshly ground coffee, however there is still a superior quality to the taste of using this french press over my percolator. The coffee is extremely easy to make. It comes with directions! Or, if you are unsure, you can youtube how to use a french press. My mother and father also claim that the taste from this french press is superior to the percolator machine.
The french press comes with a handy spoon for scooping out coffee grounds, which I think is so helpful because I am not very good at measuring out anything. The glass container has a marker for 16oz. I would have appreciated more markers for different oz. I find myself having to use a liquid measuring cup to make up for the lack of markers for ounces. But I am not bothered by this. For the price, I am not expecting anything fancy. The glass container, I feel is thin, and I am afraid it will shatter. It is reinforced with the black plastic surrounding it. I make sure to temper the glass with hot water before I make coffee, as I believe this will make sure the glass won't shatter and also the coffee will taste better. Personal opinion.
Overall, this is a great purchase and I would recommend. I have made coffee from this french press every day for 2 weeks now, and it is still working great. Washing is very easy. This is a great beginner french press for me. I'm sure if I acquire a grinder- the coffee will be even more delicious, but I am not fussy.
