Water Panel Evaporators are the heart of your humidifier and the component which generates the important humidity to keep you comfortable during the heating season. The water panel slides into the scale control insert and the water distribution tray sits across the top of the panel.

I purchased these from Hard to Find Items. I read reviews for this product that indicated that folks received generic replacements instead of Aprilaire branded products. I received original Aprilaire branded factory sealed humidifier media and paid about 40% off what my HVAC contractor normally charges me for these. I am very happy!

I ordered the two-pack of panels, and was pleased to see they matched the original OEM panel in my Aprilaire 700 humidifier. They fit perfectly, and were a perfect match down to the clay coating and colored marks to denote the top of the filter. These were a great value to replace the the original panel and get my furnace ready for the upcoming heating season.
The panels came complete with installation instructions. I've attached a photo showing what it looks like.

These are OEM and that's what I was looking for... very satisfied and much cheaper than from my HVAC company. Have tried non-OEM and the clay coating seems to deteriorate more quickly.

You can spend $$$ to have your heating and cooling people come replace your humidifier filter, or you can buy this and do it yourself.
The box has clear instructions and it takes zero intelligence. It's about as hard as cleaning the lint filter in your dryer- the difference is you just toss out the old filter and replace with the new, obviously. From start to finish, it takes about three and a half minutes.
You should replace this filter no less often than once a year.

The water pad unit arrived in an Aprilaire branded package and was an exact duplicate of the one being replaced. Clear and complete instructions for installing the pad were printed on the outside of the box. It took me about 20 minutes to remove the old pad, thoroughly clean the inside of the humidifier, insert the new pad, and place the humidifier back in operation.
An important detail is to make sure that when you remove the old unit you retain the frame and the water distribution panel that hold the water pad in place. I could see where someone could discard the entire assembly only to be very disappointed when they receive this water pad and discover that it is only the media used to facilitate the flow of water within the humidifier. It must be inserted in the old frame and water distribution panel to be re-installed in the humidifier.

Genuine replacement filters in a single four pack, which at the current price here on Amazon equates to less than $10 a filter.
That's a great saving.
I use a local heating and air company who have served me well for years, and never ripped me off, and they usually charge around $15 per filter when replacing.
Manufacturers recommend that you change the filter twice per season, so around 8 times a year or every 6-7 weeks.
I have gotten into the habit of setting a calendar note to do just that as my regular servicing is only done twice a year.
I don't think that the water is particularly "hard" where I live, but the filter does get very lime scaled up, and recently leaked out of the unit onto the floor as I had not changed it in a considerable time.
Having these inexpensive 4 packs means I can change the filter myself in a timely manner without having to call anyone out.
The effectiveness of the filter does make a difference, I have a humidity level sensor in my house (forced air central heating) and try to keep the inside levels at around 40% for comfort and to minimize static. Old and clogged filters will effect this visibly on the monitor over time, as well as having the humidifier on the correct winter/summer settings.
On a closing note, the filters out of the box new look like they are already full of limescale, they are not. That is the manufacturer treated metallic weave of the filter, just in case you are concerned.

This is the OEM part made at Aprilaire factory in USA. Metal coated with clay. Not the flimsy paper based non-OEM sold at big box retailers. Those paper based ones don't last long. The box has new colors brown n blue because they went GREEN with unbleached paperboard.

If you have an aprilaire 700 unit (and other units), this is the correct filter and it is made by aprilaire. We have well water and the humidifier is run constatnlyfrom that water so we have to change the filter every month. To be able to get genuine parts at this price is fantastic. We got the shipment very quickly.

While it appears some reviewers got a substitute for the pictured item, I got the OEM Aprilaire product exactly as pictured and described. Better yet, it arrived the day after I ordered it and it was still the best price I've found. I was able to easily install it myself. The water panel I removed had been installed by a heating/AC contractor last year and was NOT of the same quality as the OEM product. I'm very happy with this purchase and will purchase exactly the same thing next year and will again install it myself.

This is the real OEM product. It fits my model 700 perfectly and it looks to be much better quality than the other non OEM replacements I got before.
