This hand mixer is medium sized and comes equipped with two traditional beaters and a whisk attachment. It also comes with a snap on storage case so you can store all the parts together. This keeps you from having to go on a scavenger hunt in your drawers every time you need your beaters. The mixer has a bowl rest feature and runs on 6 speeds with a quick burst button. Peak power is 250 watts. In the past, I have used both hand mixers and stand mixer and depending on the situation, I enjoy using both of them. When I purchased this product and decided to write the review, I decided to research the advantages of using a hand mixer. I read many articles that elaborated on the benefits of using a hand mixer, but the one that peaked my interest was published by Craftsy. It talked about a hand mixer vs a stand mixer and their differences. It also laid out the advantages and disadvantages of both of them and I want to share them with you now.
HAND MIXERS: A handheld device of which there are:
EGG BEATER: This is a hand held device with a crank on the side that's connected to beaters (usually two). It i operated using two hands - one to hold a handle on the top to keep the beater steady and the other hand to operate the crank, creating the beating.
ELECTRIC HAND MIXER: Basically, this is a more modern version of the egg beater type mixer, but with a motor (pictured here). A motor is encased in a top section which has a handle (not unlike an iron). It is the motor that moves the beaters rather than cranking a handle.
ADVANTAGES OF HAND MIXERS:
Less expensive than a stand mixer
Quick and easy clean up
It takes up minimal space in your kitchen
Well suited to quick tasks such as whipping cream or egg whites
Because the beaters are not fitted to a particular mixing bowl, you can use a hand mixer in any type of bowl
DISADVANTAGES OF HAND MIXERS:
With a smaller motor, it's mixing capability isn't as strong as a stand mixer
Because the bowl will not be in a fixed position, it can be easy to splash what you're mixing out of the bowl if you don't have a steady hand
If a batter is very thick, it can be difficult to maneuver the smaller mixer through it in a mixing bowl
STAND MIXERS: Stand mixers have a frame that acts as a housing for a heavier-duty motor than a hand mixer as well as a mounting base for a bowl. The bowl is designed to fit the mixer and lock in place during the mixing. Usually, stand mixers will have various mixing attachments including a flat beater (paddle), a whisk and a dough hook.
ADVANTAGES OF STAND MIXERS:
The large mixing bowl helps avoid splashing batter out of the bowl
The stable bowl allows you to walk away from the bowl. If you're mixing something for 5 minutes, you don't have to be holding the bowl and mixer the whole time
Mixing is much quicker, even with a thick batter or dough
Stand mixers are more likely to come with bells and whistles, such as timers, automatic stop and other programmable settings
DISADVANTAGES OF STAND MIXERS:
Cleaning the various parts can be cumbersome
Stand mixers are significantly more expensive than hand mixers
They are heavy and large and take up a big chunk of kitchen 'real estate'
MIXING BY HAND: Before mixers, people would beat things by hand. If you don't own a mixer, you can technically perform any of the jobs they do by hand.
WHEN IT'S BEST TO MIX BY HAND
If a recipe calls for eggs 'lightly beaten' - simply do this using a fork
If a recipe calls to 'fold in' - it's often best to do this by hand
Mixing over heat - for instance when you're melting chocolate and you have to stir frequently
I personally purchased this particular hand mixer so that I could mix homemade skin care and beauty products. I own other mixers, but I use them for food prep. Although some of the stuff I make is food grade, I didn't want to share my kitchen mixer with my beauty products. If you've never owned a mixer before, it's best to start with a simple hand mixer such as this one. On the other hand, if you own a stand mixer, you would also greatly benefit from using this hand held mixer. So, to sum it up, you should really buy this hand mixer.

I haven't used this for very long, but here's my first impressions:
1) good value for the $$$
2) clip on case is handy, but cord doesn't truly fit well inside. However, I don't have to search for the attachments!
3) cord is on the side, which is great for keeping it out of the bowl
4) beaters & whisk show no sign of flaking at this point; I took a brush to them & washed them in a white bowl & saw no sign of flaking; if they flake in the future, I'll update this review
5) six speeds, but I wouldn't use this mixer for a yeast bread dough--it's just a basic mixer
Overall, this appears to be more than adequate for everyday mixing, & the whisk attachment is a nice bonus

This is the perfect mixer for the price! You cannot beat it! The mixer comes with a snap on case which is extremely convenient for containing the cord and keeping everything clean and organized. I received one whisk attachment and two beater attachments. I have used this for a number of cookie recipes as well as cakes and brownies thus far and the mixer has not disappointed at all. The noise level is typical for any other mixer and my kids enjoy helping to mix when I am baking. I love the bowl rest feature that allows the mixer to stand on its own end while the beaters drip into your bowl; this is very convenient when additional ingredients need to be added.

I though I wasn't going to love this or maybe that the quality wouldn't be up there with all the expensive brands. I was pleasantly surprised worked for what I needed it and love that it comes with its own storage. Used it multiple times and still works great and the price cannot be beat.

I bought this for my grand daughter, and was so impressed with it, I had to get one for myself! It's small, yet very powerful! I can fit mine in a drawer. It comes with a whisk attachment, so mine is hardly ever in the drawer. We use it for everything from scrambled eggs to ice coffee. It cleans easily, too! Great product!

Cannot beat it for the price! I love hand mixers and this one is replacing another I had just like it. I dropped my old one and broke the plastic piece that held in the mixing blades. I had the old one for years and loved it and am already loving this one. It is a great hand mixer. I use it more for making homemade body butter than actual baking and it whips it up beautifully.

Works better than expected for the price. It does kinda start fast on low but I have not needed it for anything that speed. I did run it pretty hard the first use for 30 mins beating a thick mixture of chunky liquidy stuff, smelled light burn smell during the 30 mins but it kept going and started again after I was finished.
Positive: Great price and strong motor with a nice add-on storage thingy.
Negative: May start too fast for some.
Overall: I like it, you might too.

Hamilton Beach has always been a good dependable name for me over the years for me. This mixer is easy to handle and adjust speeds while using. The beaters were easy to insert and to remove. It is a light weight hand mixer and fits comfortably in your hand. I received the product in a timely manor as well. I am happy with my purchase.

I use this hand mixer much more frequently than my expensive stand mixer. It is so much quicker to use and easier to clean up than a traditional mixer. I prefer a hand mixer for things like pancake batters and mashed potatoes.

Great mixer for the price. I used this on some thick batters and had no problems. My only issue is that it doesn't fit well into the plastic storage holder. The back won't pop closed. I've included photos. One is next to a water bottle to depict the size. The final photo shows the back isn't closed.
