I bought this to replace the PUR filters used in my fridge. I was leery due to the low price, but I wasn't going to spend $50+ on a PUR/Whirlpool filter that continue to rise in price. I received the filter this weekend and was amazed in it's quality and fitment. I was expecting a filter that wouldn't fit, would leak, or not work properly but aside from the labeling on the outside, is exactly like the PUR. I haven't noticed any difference in water quality compared to the other filters, so I will continue to purchase these from now on!

For $18, this is a great deal. I installed it and ran a couple of gallons through. I decided to thaw out my ice bin and clean various parts because my ice always smelled bad. This totally worked. Now my water and ice comes out clean and perfect. I use to buy the whirlpool for $50 each and now they're around $70 which is totally insane. $140/year is just stupid for water filters. From now on I'm sticking to the beta ones.

This worked great, but for the people who complain or a funny taste in the water, you have to follow directions... yes follow directions, run up to 4 gallons thru the filter AFTER installation. believe it or not but I got one for my 70+ old neighbor and she ran it under a sink

I read a number of negative reviews prior to purchasing this filter. They tended to all be around the taste of the water after going through the filter. There were a few four and five star reviews that talked about running several gallons of water through the filter prior to drinking or making ice. I decided to give it chance and couldn't be happier.

After receiving the filter I turned the ice maker off and put the new filter in. I then ran five gallons of water through the filter. It took a bunch of time, but that was what the instructions directed.

The water filter works great, and the water tastes wonderful. I couldn't recommend this filter as a replacement for your PURE enough. You have to run several gallons of water through it first or you won't be happy. I went to the hardware store and bought a 3' length of tubing, slid it over the water dispenser and dropped it down into a five-gallon bucket. Easy.

Works just as well as the original brand I was purchasing. That brand was not available on Amazon this time so I bought this instead. I honestly can't tell the difference. It installs the same way, runs the same amount of water through it before use and it tastes the same....the water does I mean.

This was a great replacement for my original filter. Just follow the recommendation to run about 7 gallons of water though your water dispenser in the fridge BEFORE taste testing. I did that, and the water was just fine, no new plastic taste or anything. Just fresh, clean water. Will buy again

I purchase these for over forty dollars each at the big box home improvement retailers! I'm so glad I found these so I can save a ton of money. I was a bit nervous trying this brand because some of the reviews mentioned an odd taste, but I've been using this filter for a few weeks and the water has been crisp and clean tasting...perfectly normal and delicious. I got this filter in exchange for an unbiased review, and I can assure you that if I had *any* signs of an odd taste I would pull the filter out of my fridge to protect my kids and I'd leave a negative review to warn other parents, but I've had no issues with this filter and I'm very happy that I can now order these going forward rather than paying more than twice as much at the local retailers!

I've usually bought the expensive brand for our fridge and was hesitant when I bought this, but no more. The product is exactly the same and works great. You do need to filter a good gallon through first, but the PUR filter is the same. This is a great, inexpensive buy for good tasting water.

After reading mixed reviews on this water filter for my refrigerator I was somewhat skeptical. But since PUR stopped making it for my refrigerator model, my choices were limited: pay almost $60 at Sears (where I purchased my refrigerator...and no, that's not a typo; $60!!!) OR give this a try. At first I wasn't too thrilled by it as there was a chemical aftertaste to the water. But then I realized I hadn't followed directions (imagine that). I hadn't completed the suggested five gallons flushing through it. I persisted and guess what? Great tasting water.

I daresay the negative reviews are from some people who -- like me -- didn't follow directions. Fortunately I realized it, and now am happy with my new filter...costing at a fraction of the alternative! So, like most things in life, follow the directions!

So far so good--for whatever reason the brand name PUR filters almost DOUBLED in cost over the last year or so! Installation and operation of this filter seem to be without any change.
I saved the old PUR filter for a future autopsy, to be performed the next time I'm replacing a blade on my bandsaw. I'll cut one of these open too, and do a "contrast and compare".
Paying $18 vs. nearly $50 bucks every 6 months for filtered water is almost reasonable...almost.
