These totally work with respect to keeping our daughter from trying to play with the knobs and also blend in nicely with our oven's stainless and black look. These do not melt either. I totally recommend!

We bought this because one day my cat decided to put our gas stove on. Scared the life out of me so I decided to try these, they work great. I don't know about kids, no kids in my household but if you need it for your cats then buy it!

I was surprised by the number of mediocre to negative reviews of these after I sent a friend here to buy them for her grandson. I get what people are saying and why they wrote negative reviews, but they did however, work for us and I will buy more now that my daughter can reach the knobs.
First off, regarding melting, presently we have a range - nothing below to generate heat, so no issue there. However we did have a freestanding stove and didn't have a melting problem probably because of both the angle of our control panel and the fact that we have small children and we would never leave our oven open, even cracked.
Yes, my son eventually learned how to open these up once he was tall enough to see what he was doing. Prior to this we never gave him a chance to learn how to open them up - if he was fiddling around with them at the stove he was told "no" and removed.
My knobs don't easily come off, so the whole thing coming off wasn't an issue for us. Removing the knobs is a great option - if you don't have a husband like mine who would never ever remember where I put them. ;-)
I liked these if anything, for me. On two occasions I came in and dropped loads of groceries on every surface - including the stovetop - and bumped a knob and accidentally turned a burner on. (I won't have that problem now with my gas range.) But it was enough to make me think about buying knob covers for my clumsiness.

I bought these for my aunt's stove. Since she contracted Alzheimers she doesn't remember what she does and on more than one occasion she has started fires on the stove. Sometimes by opening the jet with a pot with water and forgets about it until the water boils out, or just puts an empty pot. Once she took my plastic thermal pot which goes with a coffee maker and put it on the jet and melted and brought the pot to flames.
These are made for babies, but work just as well with an Alzheimer patient. They make me feel a little safer not only for myself but for her as well.

These stove covers work great for my needs. I'm not trying to keep a child from being able to turn on the stove, I'm trying to keep my dog with a nose for trouble from accidentally turning the stove on and burning down our apartment! I think these could be easy for a child to figure out how to open, but because my only concern was my dog bumping a knob, while sniffing out what yummy things I had made. He has never tried to turn on the stove, and gets no reward out of doing so, so these work great for me. I know he could figure out how to open them if it would benefit him, but for accidental bumping they work great. They do fit loosely on my stove, so they spin around the knobs, but that doesn't bother me.

When I replaced my 30 year old gas stove, I encountered a problem I never had before. The old burners would only light with a match. Since new stove is electronic ignition, my cats actually jumped up on stove when new and when jumping down, turned burner knob and suddenly burner was on. Since I have had these, I need not worry. Plus since I am always running into them when open, I have broken a few. The low price makes it worth getting two sets.

this is fantastic. we have a gas stove and these fit perfectly. all i had to do is take off the knob, place the cover, and put the knob back into its place. i can easily open it when i need to use the stove, but it may as well be fort knox to my toddler. so pleased with this purchase!

These are the best. Although they are a bit bulky around the knob they fit nicely and are very secure. You need to take the burner knob out of the socket first. When I opened the package and read the instructions on the back I overlooked that and started to panic because I thought the covers were too big. Overall I think it's a great product for the price.

We got these after my dog turned on the stove once by accident. We haven't had a problem since. I'm reading some reviews and seeing that kids seem to be smarter than these a lot of the time. I can't speak on how it works for kids, but you won't have a problem if you're getting these because of a pet. They're simple to use, they aren't an eyesore, and they were very affordable.

Six cats and a gas stove don't mix. After a few incidents of my clumsy ninjas not-so-gracefully jumping up on the stove and turning the gas on, I knew I had to do something about it.
Half an hour before these were delivered, one of my furry assassins turned the gas on yet again. Needless to say, I eagerly ripped open the packaging the moment these arrived. They were so easy to install and I would have been done in minutes had I not decided to clean the stove while the knobs were off. While my husband wasn't thrilled about having to put child-proof covers on the knobs of our stove when we don't even have kids, I think they look really nice. The tinted black goes well with our black stove and doesn't even stand out. As a bonus, our house hasn't exploded and we're not dead.
While one of the cats did manage to step on the cover just right and pop it open, I'm happy to say that she didn't turn the stove on. I've watched them jump up and the cover just spins as it should and we've been incident free since these were installed. For the time being, I can sleep better at night knowing that we've successfully thwarted our cats' attempts to kill us. I couldn't be happier!
