Armed with advanced swivel steering for excellent control when maneuvering around furniture, the Navigator has a powerful motorized brush that lifts embedded pet hair from carpets, making it ideal for pet owners.

Yes, I did just say that. Because this is the best vacuum ever. I don't want to say this vacuum changed my life, because that sounds incredibly pathetic, but it kind of did. I am pretty sure I have vacuumed more in the last month than I have in my entire life. I show it to people when they come to visit and give them demonstrations. Not kidding.
My husband saw his parents using it and when he came home from visiting them, the first thing we did was go out and buy this vacuum.
I was skeptical.
Every other vacuum I've ever encountered was heavy, awkward, inconvenient, tangly, frustrating, hard to store, and broke the minute you looked at it. It didn't matter what you spent on it--a lot or a little--it was still awful. I had given up on ever finding any vacuum that was not awful.
This vacuum is aptly named. I am "free" to pick it up at any time with no janky cord in my way! It doesn't cramp my "style" because it is easy-to-use and maneuver, and super light to carry around, even up and down stairs. It is very "sucky"! I can't believe all the stuff I clean out of the bagless bag (which is effortless to clean out, just unclip it from the vacuum and then open the compartment and dump everything in it into the trash--so easy!!) each time I run it through the house. The charge lasts quite a while. We have a three bedroom home with both carpet and non-carpet floors, and I can do a quick vacuum of the whole house on a single charge. The charging stand is sleek and does not get in the way, whether or not the vacuum is on it. My husband and I both have long hair and we have several cats, but it's easy to cut off any hair that gathers around the roller--no unscrewing things or wrangling with taking things apart--and it gathers cat hair like you wouldn't believe. I use it daily to keep the kitchen crumb-free and around the areas of our cats' litterboxes and food dishes, and every few days around the whole house.
We still have a super intense vacuum for occasional "deep vacuuming," but on a daily/weekly/casual basis, this vacuum is the bomb (yes, I also just said that), especially because it is such a good price. We paid $100 for ours and have said numerous times that it's the best $100 we've ever spent.
The only thing I wish is that I could vacuum my furniture with it. I might be able to and just don't know it; I haven't really looked at accessories yet.
I'd better go! I'm sure there's a crumb on the kitchen floor that needs the attention of me and my awesome Shark Navigator Freestyle. *flies away, cape billowing out behind her*

Edit 5/26/14 - I have an update that I thought I should share with everyone. Sadly, my beloved vacuum died a tragic death a few weeks ago while we were on vacation. Since the last person to use it was our housesitter, I do not know the exact circumstances of its death, but I mourned. I wanted to say, though, that this in no way diminished my love of this vacuum. No vacuum lasts forever, and this one lasted for eight months with near daily use. To replace it, we tried another, more expensive, swankier cordless stick vacuum and it was truly awful (check my other reviews if you want to know which one it was). We returned that one, and I came right here and ordered another of this one. I used it this morning, and all is right with the world again. Best vacuum ever and at $100 it's a steal. I shall never stray from it again!! Honestly, I am thinking of buying a spare of this vacuum in case they decide to stop making it.

I bought this for my mother at Bed, Bath and Beyond. REGULAR PRICE IS $99.99 THERE!!! Use a 20% off coupon and get it for $79.99. I then bought one for myself, an elderly neighbor and my mother-in-law. We ALL love this little vacuum.

Holy cow! We moved into a 3-level home several months ago, and I wanted another vacuum so I didn't have to carry my Shark Navigator (which I LOVE) up and down the stairs. I had settled on the Shark Rocket, because I figured with the lighter weight it would be good for my wood floors (which covers about half my main floor). But when I saw this, I thought the cordless thing might be great for the stairs, and the great reviews convinced me to buy one. We have 2 dogs and 3 kids, and I could not believe what this little thing picked up. Don't let the light weight fool you. This picks up A TON of stuff. I have about 3,000 square feet total, and was able to do my whole main floor, stairs, and about half the master bedroom before the charge ran out. It's awesome on wood floors, plus when I move to a rug, I can hear the roller kick into a higher gear. It doesn't change to the carpet setting, but it's like the roller knows you're on a rug. When you move back to the hard floor, it seems to switch back into the lower gear automatically. Switch it into carpet and it does a great job there, too. On stairs maybe it's not as easy as a hand held, but it's very light, and obviously there's no cord to mess with. Is it as good on carpets as my Navigator? Probably not. But it's perfect for my quick day-to-day carpet vacuuming, and does a very thorough job on my hard floors. I'm almost embarrassed to show what it picked up, but I've attached a picture of what I dumped in my garbage can when I was done! Dog hair galore! If you have a lot of hard floors or need a 2nd "quick" vacuum, this little thing might surprise you.

I love this vacuum! It was easy to put together, and is very well made. Sure it's a bit costly for a cordless vacuum, but definitely worth the money. I've had the much cheaper version of Shark cordless vacuums and within a year, they fall apart. Not the Navigator. This vacuum is built to last. I have a long haired dog and the vacuum easily picks up all the pet hair. The best part is it steers like a Dyson. The 'docking station' is amazing. Much easier than having to plug a cord into the vacuum itself, and unplugging it when it comes time to use the machine. There are only two things I don't care for about this vacuum, and their really not even that big of a deal. The on / off button is located on top of the unit, and because of this location when I try to vacuum under my couch, the couch hits the on / off button, and shuts the vacuum off. No big deal, I just have to remember not to push the vacuum that far under the couch. Secondly (and this is just weird), the recharging light is so BRIGHT, it lights up my whole kitchen at night with a eerie blue light. All things considered, I love this vacuum and have already recommended it to all my friend.

I am also in love with this vacuum!!! (My family is making jokes about vacuuming being my new addiction.) It's honestly a little disgusting to see how much stuff it continues to pick up on a daily basis and it makes me wonder if my old vacuum was actually cleaning anything at all in the past. I think I'm pulling dirt/hair out of the carpet that has been there for a long time. (My carpets also actually look newer again now that the nap is being restored.) I was so ecstatic about this vacuum that I bought another one for my mother (3 dogs and 3 cats, all indoors). She was amazed when it filled the dirt compartment in just a few minutes on a carpet that she had just vacuumed that day. It's an added bonus that it's cordless, holds a charge more than long enough for me to vacuum the entire house (3000+ sq ft), cleans carpet, hardwood AND tile and is lightweight enough to easily carry from one floor to the next. Compare prices before you buy. I bought ours at the local "big box" store (you know which one I mean - you have one, too) for $98 - not on sale. It's the best $100 I've spent for a very, very long time.

I thought my little eureka quick up stick vac was getting all the pet hair, dirt, etc. out of our carpets just fine until I used this. Amazing.

I bought this because we just moved into a house with hardwood throughout the whole house and I have a 3 year old and a 1 1/2 year old and I was a little hesitant but I love it! I use mine very frequently and the battery stays all day! Picks up everything! Even from my shag rug that I have in the living room. I love the charging station it will turn itself off when it's fully charged so it doesn't kill the battery. The vacuum is also very easy to clean out takes no time at all!

Lightweight but it does a bang up job on dog hair on tile and on carpet. It goes in places the regular vac can't or can't without a lot of effort. The only issue is the battery time. According to the manual that's 12 minutes on carpet speed, 17 minutes on bare floors. Then you need to charge 4-7 hours. Charging is effortless.
Update after several weeks - When you don't have to move furniture, drag a vac, plug and unplug, 17 minutes is plenty of time.

i came online today for the sole purpose of writing a review for this vacuum. trust me, i'm not the one to go around talking about how much i love cleaning, but i love this little vacuum.
we live in an apartment, approx 1200 sq ft. we have hardwood floors, linoleum, laminate, and stone tile in various areas of the house. we have a shag area rug and a couple small rugs. i use this vacuum on EVERY FLOOR SURFACE in our place and it works great on all of them. i use the low feature on the shag rug...and it doesn't pull on the shag but i can see the dirt and dust in the canister. it works perfectly on our hard surfaces...doesn't blow anything around...it picks up dust, bits of food, my hair (Which is very long), bits of paper...
heck i even use the thing on the little bathroom rugs we have...i just put my foot on one end of the rug and pull the vacuum in the other direction. works great and saves time between washing them. the vacuum is super lightweight, which makes this process much easier. i wouldn't have even considered it if the vac was heavier.
the swivel head feature makes it super easy to maneuver. it glides easily over the hardwood and over the area rug.
it's super easy to clean...very mess free. at least until it's time to actually wash out the canister and filter.
i've used it 3 times so far for the whole apartment and it hasn't lost suction and the battery doesn't seem to be fading. so maybe that's at least 1.5 hours of vacuum time (At least!) per battery charge.
we don't have pets but i think it would be great for you if you have them. the only downside of the vacuum is that it doesn't have a handle attachment for vacuuming furniture. it only works for the floor. but for the price, it's a great handy little vacuum. especially for apartment living. the cordless feature is AMAZING!
so unless you really need a handle attachment i would say BUY BUY BUY!

Amazing! I have a shark vacuum and steam mop and they are the best products I've ever had. I moved to a house with hardwood floors and mat carpet. The dust from the forced air system and dog hair would pile up after a few days. But, I have degenerative disk disease and it's hard for me to bend or pickup anything heavy. This was an excellent solution. Cordless - duh, wonderful! Has a little charger that you sit on the floor and just put your vacuum on it when you're done. Weighs only a few pounds. Goes right from carpet to floor with a touch of your foot. Head swivels for corners and under furniture. 150% satisfied. I no longer need my heavy duty vacuum or a broom ever again!
